On 28 June 2024, the Ministry of Interior in Thailand issued the Ministerial Regulation Re: Exemption from the Government Fee for Hotel Business Operators B.E. 2567 (2024). This announcement was published in the Government Gazette on 30 June 2024, which extends of the waiver on operating fees for hoteliers for two more years. The exemption, which covers an annual fee of THB 40 per hotel room, according to Section 1 (7) of the Ministerial Regulations Prescribing Fees, Criteria, and Methods for Paying Fees for Hotel Business Operations 2008, amended by the Ministerial Regulations Prescribing Fees, Criteria, and Methods for Paying Fees for Hotel Business Operations (No. 2) 2015 will be effective from July 2024 to June 2026. It will cost the government 54 million baht in lost revenue, said by the deputy spokesperson Karom Phonphonklang.

The decision extends the previous annual fee exemption period, which had been set to expire on June 30, 2024, based on similar ministerial regulations in 2022. This strategy encompasses both attracting more tourists and alleviating existing financial burdens on hotel operators. The government aims to attract 36.7 million foreign visitors in 2024, aiming to rebound close to pre-pandemic levels seen in 2019, when nearly 40 million tourists visited Thailand.

In addition to supporting the tourism sector, the government has also approved subsidy of 30 billion baht for rice farmers to buy fertilizer, as part of broader efforts to stimulate economic activity and support rural communities to help with input costs in reducing rice production costs for rice farmers in the production year 2024/25 and increasing rice production by using fertilizers and biological agents in rice fields to comply appropriate formulas and rates according to the environment and area conditions promote participation in the efficient use of rice production factors. In addition, to support the implementation of the government's policy to increase the income of rice farmers 3 times in 4 years. It is scheduled to run from July 15 2024 to May 31 2025. Farmers can buy fertilizer from the stores registered with state agencies, at prices lower than market ones.
